Happy Friday! What a week! We went from 70-degree temperatures to back below freezing overnight. I guess I spoke too soon about Spring being here, but I think that we’re going to be getting back to the 60’s in a few days. Mother Nature is such a tease!
Once again, I’m linking up with the DC Trifecta: Mar on The Run, Eat Pray Run DC, and You Signed Up for What?! for Friday Five! This week we’re talking about our 5 fitness goals, so I thought I would share mine with you!
I have fallen in love with yoga! I am still disbelief that this has happened, but I’m hooked! Yesterday I had my last yoga session that was part of my Yoga for Beginners package, so I’ve been on the hunt to find more opportunities to keep practicing.
The Thursday Focus Power Yoga class at Focus Barre and Yoga is my all-time favorite, so I definitely want to keep taking those classes. On top of that, I just bought a Livingsocial for Yoga Download. I got a 1-year subscription for $29, and it looks great! They have audio, video, and downloads of the poses, so I hope that this will inspire me to practice yoga at home.
I never feel better than when I finish a good yoga session. It challenges me, yet relaxes me. I think it’s a great complement to my running.

Before starting Yoga Class on Thursday! |
I haven’t been focusing on my core as much as I should. I still have Core and More Class, and Boot Camp is picking up so I hope that these help. I really want to be a strong runner, and the core is key! Nike Training Club has some great workouts that I need to squeeze in through the week!
My progress with running these past few months has been great! I’m really proud of myself. Last Saturday I ran 6 miles and felt pretty good! I’m not training for anything right now, but I do want to maintain running 4 days a week and make sure I’m varying terrain, elevations and speed.
I hate when people say women have weak upper bodies. It’s annoying. But I am a woman with a weaker upper body! Yoga definitely works on this, but I also need to do more with weights. Boot Camp should help me to learn how to work with weights on my own.
My big goal this year is to return to the half marathon world. I still have a long way to go, but races are the best motivators for me. I’d love to work with Coach Kristy again. I still have my eye on the Philly Rock and Roll Half Marathon, but we’ll see what happens!
What are some of your fitness goals? Have any of them changed since the year has started?
