Ultimate Coffee Date – March 2015

It’s the weekend…finally!  I’m so glad that this long week is over (at least it felt super long to me!).  Philly has had yet another snow storm and this one had to be the worst we’ve had all winter!  Ugh!  But I can’t deny it…it was so pretty!

Since it’s the first Saturday of the month, for the first time I’m joining in with the Ultimate Coffee Date, hosted by Coco at Got2Run4Me, Deborah at Confessions of a Mother Runner, and Lynda from Fitness Mom Wine Country.  Just imagine that you and are having a chat at a local coffee shop. I’ll be drinking a chai tea 🙂

If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I’m really excited about the spring, for a lot of reasons, but most excited about learning how to garden!  We have a north-facing balcony at our apartment, and I am determined to learn what we can successfully grow back there!  I’m interested in herbs, leafy greens and fresh veggies!  We’ve struggled with having the right amount of sunlight, not to mention hungry squirrels and cats…sigh.  I hope this will be a fun spring project!  I just ordered a book that should be a great resource!

If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I’ve been super busy working on blogging this past month.  I was so lucky to win a scholarship for the Badass Babes Blog Club E-Course and it’s been fantastic!  The only thing is I’m SO far behind on my assignments.  I’m learning strategies on how to be more productive with posting, how to approach social media, and SO much more.  I want to make sure that this is the best place it can be so I’m hoping as I proceed in the course that things will be more enjoyable for you here as a reader and you’ll want to keep coming back! 🙂

If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I’ve signed up for Spring softball!  Last year, my company kicked off a softball sports league that ran through the summer.  I didn’t sign up then because I don’t know how to play softball!  I’ve had a pretty good run with adult league kickball, so this year I’m taking the leap to give softball a try.  My priority is to 1.) have fun and 2.) get to know more people at work.  I just hope my team doesn’t take the game too seriously!

If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I’m in desperate need for a new TV show addiction! I still haven’t seen the finale for How to Get Away With Murder, but I’m finally all caught up with Jane the Virgin (LOVE this show!).  Everyone’s been talking about Empire and I finally saw the Pilot – I really like it!  Do you have any suggestions for great shows that are on right now?

If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I’m nervous about the Fight for Air Stair Climb coming up in only 2 weeks from today!  I know that I am in MUCH better shape than I was when I climbed 100 flights last year, but I don’t think I’ve spent enough time specifically stair training.  But really, my priority is to raise as much as I can for the American Lung Association.  I’m still raising money for the cause – my donation page is here.  I appreciate any support!

If we were having coffee I’d tell you…I’m not really happy with my eating habits lately.  We’ve had a lot of candy in the house lately which is very hard to resist.  Skittles, Mike & Ike’s, and my biggest weakness…Twizzlers!  I have also mentioned my cooking inspiration rut which makes me less likely to eat healthy.  But I gotta snap out of it! I know that I’ve gained weight this past month…I’ll find out the damage when I see Danielle, my dietitian in a couple of weeks.  Oops!

What would you tell me over coffee?

  1. Oh I love gardening! I am waiting for the round to warm up a bit and get out there and get some veggies planted! Good luck! Your snow pictures are amazing, this Florida girl would not know what to do with herself! I played on my company softball team one year, yup broke my thumb during the second game! Have fun with it and keep your eye on the ball- LOL! Enjoyed the coffee, have a great weekend!

  2. Wow lots going on for you! That blogging class sounds cool. I did something similar a few months back but I hadn’t heard of that one. I may check it out. The weather? I know huh! I’d really like to have my own garden too. I am not such a green thumb! Thanks for linking up with us today for the coffee date-always fun to catch up

    1. It’s great to get some blogging tips…as you know, it can all be so daunting as you’re trying to get the most eyes on your blog that you can! I don’t have a green thumb either but I’m hoping I can learn to develop one! 🙂

  3. Good luck wit the Stair Climb! I know you’ll rock it! My newest show addiction is “Fixer upper” on HGTV. I love that show. I also love crime shows, Criminal Minds, Law & Order: Criminal Intent & Bones.

      1. Oh you should watch Fixer Upper. The couple that does the renovations is adorable and they are so funny!

  4. Ooh, gardening!! I want to build a little garden in our yard but we need to actually overhaul the entire area first because it’s a mess. I can’t wait to have fresh peppers and tomatoes whenever I want!

Softball will be SO fun. I miss team sports!

  5. That stair climb sounds intense! Good luck!!
We (meaning my husband and daughter) planted a vegetable garden last year. Unfortunately the groundhogs ate EVERYTHING when we went away for a long weekend. The only things left were the corn and jalapenos.

  6. Although that snow does look pretty, I’m glad I’m sitting here in sunny Florida. I’m not much for super cold weather. My workout habits have suffered enough with the rainy and chilly weather we’ve been getting (read: chilly = less than 60 degrees).

My eating habits suck right now too. I’ve been on vacation in my Aunt’s house and all they buy is junk food pretty much. It’s hard to deny it when it sits right in front of you, even more so when you don’t want to spend your own money on groceries. I was really trying to cut back on expenses this vacation.

Softball sounds fun! I’m not big on team sports, but I hope you like it!

    1. The snow was pretty but I’m glad that it’s gone! I’m so jealous…I’d love to spend some time down in Florida! We’re running low on groceries so I definitely need to get back to healthy cooking and eating! I’m hoping I enjoy softball too..so nervous!
