Week 3 Training Recap:

Wednesday 8/5:  Rest day.

Thursday 8/6:  I did my fartlek run, one-mile warm-up, followed by 8 sets of 1-minute run/walk intervals, and a cooldown to 4 miles.  Each fartlek was slated for a 9:20 pace, but I was more in the 7-8 minute range…oops!  Then I had a kickball game that evening.  I had the best game I’ve ever had, getting lots of outs while playing 2nd base, plus I got an RBI!  My kicking has really improved this season!  Bret was able to help out our team this week…I was happy to have him there.

Friday 8/7:  Rest day!  Sprinting to first base for kickball caused some pain in my left hip that lingered into Friday, so I made sure to make it easy!

Saturday 8/8:  The Warrior Dash!!  I didn’t track my activity, but it consisted of about 3.2 miles, obstacles, and some mud…check out my recap from earlier in the week!

Sunday 8/9:  3 miles run with Bret, followed by strides.  The weather was humid and I think my body was still tired from the Warrior Dash.  Not my best run, but it got done.

Monday 8/10:  I went to Boot Camp with the City Fit Girls, finally!  Jayel Lewis led the workout and we focused on our upper body.  It was pretty intense, with lots of planks, push ups, bird dogs, and who knew how tough it is to keep your arms out to a T!  It was nice to see all the City Fit Girls too…I’ve been MIA lately, so I need to get back at it.

Tuesday 8/11:  It was a rainy, soggy day and I took it as a rest day.  Hello sore shoulders!

Week 3 Report Card:

I have to say that I’m very happy overall with how Week 3 went!  The fartlek run was definitely my favorite run of the week, and I’m glad I finally got off my butt and went to boot camp!

So I’m going to give Week 3 an A!  Yes, I can always do more hip strengthening, and yes, I need to do a better job of hitting my target paces (not too fast or too slow), but I had tons of opportunities to make excuses, and I didn’t!
