Cherry Blossom Training Week 8 Recap

It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve done a workout recap!  Leading up to and after the Rock ‘N Roll DC Half Marathon, I’ve been really busy with traveling and not able to run or workout as often as I intended.

But now things are back to schedule and I’m getting ever so closer to the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run on Sunday, April 3!  I’m getting close to the taper!

I’m linking up with Annmarie at The Fit Foodie Mama, Angelena Marie at Angelena Marie: Happy, Healthy & Balanced, Michelle at Fruition Fitness, and Nicole at Fitful Focus for Wild Workout Wednesday! Check any of their sites to pick up some fun workouts to try!

I am training for the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run in Washington, DC! Check out my weekly training recap!

Workouts for the Week:

Wednesday 3/16:  No workouts.

Thursday 3/17:  Traveling day, no workout.

Friday 3/18:  I finally had my first run since the Rock ‘N Roll DC Half marathon – speed work for the first time in 3 weeks!  10 sets of 2-minute intervals gave me a total of 6.7 miles including warmup and cool down.

Saturday 3/19:  Long run!  I decided to go with 12 miles since it would be my last double digit training run before the race.  I wore my new Orange Mud Hydraquiver hydration pack, which I’ll be reviewing in the next few weeks!  My only failure was that I forgot to bring fuel with me…thankfully, I still did a pretty good job!

Sunday 3/20:  Recovery day after that 12-miler!

Monday 3/21:  Boot Camp was canceled and I forgot my clothes for yoga, so I ended up with an unintentional rest day.

Week 8 Report Card:

I didn’t run much this past week, and now I’m heading closer to taper town!  Usually, I feel guilty about missing runs, but there were some things going on on the home front that was much more important.  No regrets.

The hard part is over! I can’t believe that I’ve been training for months and the big day is almost here!  I’m definitely nervous about the Cherry Blossom Run.  While I paced perfectly at my last race, I don’t know if I’ll be able to get it right again!  Oh, the mental challenges of running…

Since I had to miss out on some runs this past week, I’m going to give week 8 of training a B.  I am extremely happy with how my 12-mile run went, but I’ll feel a lot more confident about this race with one more week of training to go!

How have your workouts been going lately?  Do you have any races coming up?
