I hope you’re having a great day so far! It feels like it’s been a while since I’ve caught up, but as you’ll see below, I’ve been really busy these past few days! Thankfully, I’ve still been able to keep up with running and doing my pre-training for the Philly Marathon, now less than 5 months away!
I’m linking up with Hoho Runs and Miss Sippi Piddlin for the Weekly Wrap! It’s a great way to see what your favorite health and fitness bloggers are up to!
Recapping my 3rd week of pre-training for the Philly Marathon! #runchat #weeklywrap Click To TweetWell, I am finally a homeowner! Bret and I closed on our house this past Thursday. It was such an anticlimactic event, signing all those papers while the sellers of the house were so laid back and relaxed! I have to admit that I was pretty nervous/tense about the whole experience!
We did the walkthrough that morning and everything went smoothly. It was great to see the house again after so many months, and I knew that we made the right decision. Thankfully closing only took an hour and a half! Once we got out there, we had lunch (Honeygrow is pretty awesome, who knew?) then headed to our apartment and started moving things in our cars!
Saturday was our official moving day. We were supposed to start at 11, but we only had one mover that made it on time. The mover with the truck didn’t come until almost 1 pm, so I did a lot of sitting and waiting. Thankfully the other mover kept busy the entire time he was there. They were both nice guys and did a great job. Everything was moved in by 4:00. What a day!
Now we’re just settling in, putting things in their proper place, and still finding more things to take to Goodwill. There were so many times where we were completely overwhelmed by all that needed to be done, but things are coming together. Considering we just moved, I think we’re doing a great job! I think one of the biggest struggles was having no cable and internet this weekend, lol!
Monday 6/20: Yoga class featuring sun salutations for the summer solstice. My calves and hamstrings needed the stretch! Then I had Boot Camp and we did a job of squats and upper body work. We also used the TRX.
Tuesday 6/21: Went for a 5-mile run first thing in the morning. The goal was 6, but there just wasn’t enough time. It was already 73 and humid at 5:30 am, so I knew it’d be rough. I was supposed to do miles 3-5 at tempo but I could barely make it through one mile at that pace.
Wednesday 6/22: Went for a 3-mile run followed by strides first thing in the morning. Even though I did a quick warmup my shins were bothering me for a bit, ugh! Still, I was glad to get it done. Later that morning, I gave blood and the whole process went so quickly!
Thursday 6/23: Bret and I went for a 3 mile run in the morning before heading to closing on our house! I wish I could say it was an awesome run, but it wasn’t. I felt really sluggish and the humidity made me feel miserable. I think giving blood finally hit me!
Friday 6/24: Time for a rest day!
Saturday 6/25: I ran for about 4.5 miles on my typical running route for the last time. It was a bit sentimental for me. Of course, my Nike+ watch died in the middle of the run, but the run felt much easier once I finished the first 2 miles. I do wish that I ran a few more miles to get in that long run! At least I did my post-run workout – side planks, clamshells, side hip bridge, twisting lunge, etc.
Sunday 6/26: No running since we had lots of errands to take care of for the house!
I just realized that in my past recaps, I forgot to give grades! That’s one of my favorite things about assessing my progress week-to-week, so I’d say that Week 1 was a C+ and Week 2 was an A-!
Looking back at Week 3, I’m so glad that I was able to get in my runs, and I’ve done a much better job of doing those pre-run warmups and post-run workouts. Despite that, I’m disappointed in my pacing, and I don’t know if I can blame the heat on running 11 to 12-minute miles lately. I did the best I could with the time that I had. So I’m going to give Week 3 a B+!
Now that I’m in a new neighborhood, I think it’ll be a bit tough figuring out my running route. 5:30 am runs are probably out of the question now, so I may be forced to run out in peak heat. I’ll let you know how it goes!
How was your week? Any tips for settling into a new home and not wanting to do everything at once?
