Philly Marathon Training Week 10 Recap

I am now less than 6 weeks away from the Philly Marathon.  How in the world did that happen??

My mileage keeps creeping up higher and higher, and while it’s exciting, it’s super scary!  Over the weekend, I completed my very first 17-mile run.  Talk about a milestone!  I’ll share with you how that run went on how the rest of my marathon training has been going.  It was the second week of having some kind of workout every day of the week, but my body is handling it all pretty well (thank God)!

What do you usually eat before you go on a long run or start a tough workout?  And what do you grab on the go or to recover after said workout?

Over the years, I’ve tried a variety of different types of fuel and I still haven’t been able to find a consistent routine.  I used to regularly have toast and jam before my long runs and then eventually get something to eat once I was done, but rarely in the 30-60 minute window.

It’s so important to have the right type of fuel so that you maximize your workouts and continue to build strength.  I had the opportunity to test out the UCAN Snack Bars and they did a great job keeping me energized on my long runs.  Keep reading to check out my review!

Do you have any fitness wear that you use regularly that still has that “smell” despite putting it through the laundry?  Or do you have running shoes that have a lingering odor that you can’t figure out how to remove?

I’ve definitely struggled with this.  I have a bin where I keep my running gear and it is downright funky!  And there have been a couple of shirts that I had to “retire” because the odor of past runs just won’t go away.

Philly Marathon Training Week 9 and September Monthly Goal Recap

So here we are in a new month, October!  It’s crazy how close we are to the end of the year, but I plan to enjoy this month as much as possible and really work hard on all of my goals!

I’m more than halfway finished with marathon training for the Philly Marathon, and I’ve got many more long runs in my future!  I’m looking forward to keeping up the momentum and making some improvements in my life-balance from September.
