Friday…oh, glorious Friday! I’m so glad that you’re here!
I hope you had a great week! The weather has been overall pretty gloomy, but I can’t complain too much! Half marathon training is still going strong and I’m always looking forward to the weekend!
Since it’s the last Friday of January, it’s time to share my Runfessions, aka running confessions along with Marcia from Marcia’s Healthy Slice! I’m also joining Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday 5 2.0 linkup!
What runfessions do you have to share? It's that time of the month with @teamarcia! #runchat Click To TweetI have to runfess that the Maury show has been VERY entertaining during my treadmill runs during lunch! The show is absolutely ridiculous, but it’s a trainwreck and I can’t look away! While paternity test episodes can be a hot mess, I really love the lie detector tests. I was watching one episode where the guy lied about EVERYTHING and was even found cheating on hidden camera with one of the show’s decoys! And yet he still claimed his innocence when caught red-handed! It’s almost like a game trying to figure out whether they will pass or fail the lie detector test…does it make me a bad person that I find this stuff entertaining?
I think I’ve mentioned that sometimes I have some saliva issues while running…last Wednesday evening when Bret and I ran together in Chestnut Hill, the weather was a bit damp and I made an unfortunate release that landed on someone’s car door. Oops! Some rich person probably wasn’t too happy the next morning! TMI, I know!
I’m starting to get back in the habit of long runs now that I’m half marathon training and I have to runfess that I’ve really missed going the distance. After last Saturday’s 8-mile run, which overall went really well, I showered and took the most glorious nap when we got home. I’ve missed the routine! I still think fondly of my hours of training solo for the Philly Marathon, but I’m not ready to have marathon training dominate my personal life again. 10 miles? Sure! 20 miles? No thanks! Still, it is fun to look back at those long runs from marathon training!
I’ve mentioned a few times that my sister and I are going to take part in the Disney Princess Weekend at the end of February. I will cheer my sister on for the 5K and then we’ll run the 10K together. I have to runfess that I still don’t get what the big deal is with Disney races. Is it going to be completely chaotic at the expo and on the course? Will I be stressed out trying to get photos with certain characters? Do I really have to wear a costume? I’m not going to wear a tutu…
I’m not there for the competition, I’m there to have fun but to be honest, I’m more pumped about going to Universal Orlando for the first time in 5.5 years. I’m all about Harry Potter!
This year I’ve signed back on to participate in the American Lung Association’s Fight for Air Stair Climb taking place in Philly on Saturday, March 26, 2017. I’ve done this event several times: 50 flights in 2009-2012 and 100 flights in 2014 and 2015. The Century Climb is where you have to go up the building twice! This year, I’m going back to climbing “just” 50 flights and I’m curious to see how I’ll do!
I’m serving as Team Captain this year, which I’ve also done in the past, but this time around, I’m nervous! The last time I went up 50 flights was 5 years ago…will I be faster or slower in my “old age”? I haven’t really started stair training yet, but I know that my legs are probably stronger than ever…so we’ll see how much of an impact my barre and spinning classes will make in my stair climbing endurance!
My goal this year is to raise at least $200 for the American Lung Association. If you are interested in supporting the team, here is a link to my fundraising page! If you’re able to give even a few dollars, I really appreciate the support!
What are your runfessions that you’d like to share? Any good tips for a successful Disney race experience?
