Is it still winter or did the groundhog get it wrong?
I hope you have a great weekend – the weather was extremely nice for us in Philly, it didn’t make any sense (though I’m not complaining)! I’m still training for the upcoming Love Run Half Marathon in March and I’m happy to report that I am back to running!
I’m joining Courtney of Eat Pray Run DC for her Winter Training Recap linkup and HoHo and Tricia for the Weekly Wrap! These are great ways to keep accountable and share your workouts with fellow fit-minded individuals!
How was your latest week of race training? #runchat Click To TweetThis past week Bret and I celebrated 5 years together. We had a lovely weekend! On the Saturday before last, we went to dinner at the restaurant where we first met. We haven’t been there in years and I have to admit that I was extremely nostalgic and full of memories from that special day. We had some pretty good beers at the restaurant but unfortunately, the food was terrible, and we had a lot of it! But on the bright side, now we can add that bad experience to another one of our memories of that place, haha! At least we can laugh about it!
The on the following Sunday we went to Bucks County for some sightseeing and looking at a home that Bret’s mother was interested in buying. We had a full day, starting with an amazing brunch at Cafe Blue Moose in Newtown! I ordered this amazing item below which I have no idea what it was called but is covered in lemon curd, blueberries, and tons of powdered sugar. After Saturday night’s awful meal, this was so needed! Later in the afternoon, we went roaming around for wineries and ended up at the Wycombe Vineyards. We had plenty to drink plus fondue! We bought a couple of bottles….yum!
We have been so fortunate this winter to have such mild weather in Philadelphia, how about where you live? We may have been up to the 70’s on Sunday! Even though I’m not a fan of running in the heat, I can’t deny that it’s nice to be able to run in the warm sunshine! Everyone and their mother was out on the trails this weekend…as a runner, it’s easy to be grumpy about the crowds, but it is nice to see people appreciating the beauty of nature and getting out of the winter funk! I hope it lasts as long as possible…
Monday 2/13: 45 minutes on the elliptical. I warmed up for 10 minutes then did 2 minutes hard, 2 minutes easy. I never use the elliptical so it was a little awkward but I made it through!
Tuesday 2/14: Yoga after work with the crew. It was another great class. The shoulder stand continues to be a strength, and I still can’t do a side crow on my left side to save my life!
Wednesday 2/15: 40 minutes on the exercise bike. This time I did an interval of 3 minutes hard, 2 minutes easy. This was definitely a challenging class!
Thursday 2/16: Spin class after work. The instructor didn’t have her playlist so she had to improvise…as a result, I thnk we had a much tougher workout, but I really enjoyed it!
Friday 2/17: Rest day!
Saturday 2/18: Back on the trail! I had my first run in 10 days and it was for 8 miles! I’m so grateful that I made it through and had no problems. I felt a little bit out of shape starting out but I’m really happy with my pace! Thankfully my foot feels fine!
Sunday 2/19: It was a ridiculously warm day so I couldn’t resist running 3 miles. Bret and I ran together and I was much speedier than usual. Thankfully I had none of my worrisome foot pain!
It was really tough for me to have such a long running drought but I know that I made the right decision for my body. I’m glad that I was able to do plenty of other workouts to keep my mind and body active, even though there’s nothing that really replaces running! And I’m so proud that I was able to have such a solid long run after 2 weeks off. I’m gaining more confidence in my abilities.
So with that said, I’m giving Week 7 an A! The foot pain is gone, hopefully for good. It would have been far too easy to ignore the doctor’s orders and compromise my health. It seems that I made the right call.
How was your week of workouts? Did you have a mild weather weekend?
