Tunes Tuesday: Super Bowl Motivation
Did you catch SuperBowl LI? I was having a great time enjoying the Falcons beat the Patriots but unfortunately, they blew a huge lead and lost the game! I thought the commercials were okay this year, but at least I could count on Lady Gaga giving a great performance!
In light of the recent Super Bowl, I thought it would be fun to take a look at some of the artists that have performed in the Super Bowl in the past. Ever since Michael Jackson’s iconic performance in 1993, the halftime show has become one of the highlights of the Super Bowl! And while some years are better than others, it’s still usually a pretty fun time!
Unfortunately, I don’t have songs from every artist that has ever performed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. I’m not a big fan of The Who, U2, or the Rolling Stones. I would have loved to add Prince, but none of his music is on Spotify…what a crime! Update: Prince is now on Spotify!! And I didn’t add JT because I’m still not over the wardrobe malfunction… Hopefully you enjoy a few of these tunes and flash back to some memorable Super Bowl performances over the past 20+ years!

Michael Jackson – Jam, Black or White: The legend!! He had a 3-minute standing ovation before he could even start performing!
James Brown – Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine: He performed this with the Blues Brothers…who knew?
The Temptations – Get Ready: Taking it to the old school!
Stevie Wonder – Sir Duke: Stevie is amazing, he can do no wrong!
*NSYNC – It’s Gonna Be Me: Anything with *NSYNC is a winner in my book!
Aerosmith – Walk This Way: This was definitely my favorite Super Bowl halftime of all time!
Shania Twain – Man! I Feel Like a Woman!: Hey I got a little country love!
Kid Rock – Bawitdaba: Everybody loved this song back in the day…admit it!
Bruce Springsteen – Born to Run: Showing some love to the Boss!
Prince – Let’s Get Crazy, Purple Rain: I have to admit that it took me a long time to realize the genius of Prince! Gone too soon!
Black Eyed Peas – I Gotta Feeling: So many people hate BEP because they’re total sellouts but hey, I like the music!
Madonna – Like a Prayer: Still a beast.
Beyonce – Single Ladies: Her halftime show was epic! I need to watch it again!
Bruno Mars – Just the Way You Are: Bruno was dancing like a fool out there! This is still one of my favorite songs.
Katy Perry – Firework, Dark Horse: She had such a fun halftime show, definitely one of my favorites!
Missy Elliott – Work It: The worst kept secret but an amazing performance! As you know, I’m always ready for Missy!
Coldplay – Paradise, Adventure of a Lifetime: I’m a Coldplay fan but they were definitely an odd choice for the Super Bowl, haha!
Lady Gaga – Born This Way: Classic Gaga!

I was really impressed with Lady Gaga’s performance. It made me go through my music and add a few of her songs to my various playlists!
Poor Janet…totally thrown under the bus. Lady Gaga is great but I admit I haven’t gotten into her newer music post-Born This Way. Time to check it out!
Yes Lady Gaga totally slayed her Super Bowl performance as I knew she would. I thought the commercials were lackluster at best. It was so loud in here maybe I missed the good ones. We’re totally in sync again on that playlist! 100%!
Glad you like the playlist! Yeah, the commercials always try too hard to be political or thought-provoking, I don’t think you missed anything. Next year I need to see a team that I actually care about in the Super Bowl!
I’m still crying over that Falcons lost. Team NSYNC all the way. I think that’s why the Bai commercial was my favorite, lol!

My friends and are started screaming after the wardrobe malfunction. It was a lot of “did you see that?!” and running across the hall to others, saying the same thing. The TV feed cut out real fast!
LOL I remember I was up dancing around the living room because Justin was performing and then….oh snap! Poor Janet…her career hasn’t been the same since.
What a great list! I remember many of these. There have been alot of good artists performing at the Super Bowl!
Wikipedia was my friend for sure…I forgot that when JT performed with Janet that there were other performers too! I wonder who they’ll pick for next year…

My favorite super bowl performer was Bruno Mars. He was AMAZING. Prince was pretty great too!

I had forgotten some of those Super Bowl performers! I think, hands-down, Gaga dominated the past decade (if not more). She was just amazing!
Lady Gaga was great but I don’t know, I was expecting something more spectacular from her! Such a great live performer.
