It’s time for Tunes Tuesday hosted by Kimberly at Kooky Runner, Steffany at Run Steff Run and me!  Every Tuesday we’ll be sharing our favorite music with a different theme each week.  We hope it’ll be a fun way to find new music to listen to and also get to know each other a little bit better!

Tunes Tuesday: R&B Dance Favorites

Growing up, I listened to a lot of R&B music.  There were the old school songs that my Mom would play from the 60’s and 70’s, and then there was a lot of great music in the late 80’s and 90’s that I loved listening to on the radio.  Brandy, Usher, Aaliyah, Mary J. Blige…there were so many great options!  And while the slower love songs were great from artists like Maxwell, 112, and Toni Braxton, I was always a bigger fan of the upbeat songs that you could dance to!

I don’t know what it is, but I’m not really a big fan of current R&B music.  Sure, there’s Ne-Yo and Chris Brown…but I tend to be stuck in the past when it comes to R&B music.  I hope you enjoy this week’s Tunes Tuesday playlist the features some of my favorite R&B dance songs!  There are so many more that I love that I may need to create a new dedicated playlist with all my jams!

Featured Artists – R&B Dance Music

For this week's Tunes Tuesday, I'm sharing a few of my favorite R&B dance tunes from back in the day! Check out more music for your workout playlist at runwithnoregrets.com!

Mary J. Blige –  Family Affair:  Once the beat starts, the party begins!  I can’t help but dance to this song…Mary gets it done!

Dru Hill – In My Bed:  Dru Hill was a GREAT R&B group in the 90’s.  I love this remix with Jermaine Dupri and Da Brat!

Mya – Case of the Ex (Whatcha Gonna Do):  Whatever happened to Mya?  She was a great performer and had a unique voice.  This was a great song!

Usher – U Don’t Have to Call:  8701 was the album when Usher really hit it big.  I’ll always be sentimental about this album.  The music video for U Don’t Have to Call had amazing choreography!

Aaliyah – Back & Forth:  Aaliyah was such an awesome artist and gone too soon.  I wish Spotify had more of her music available because she had so many great songs to dance to!  Just ignore R. Kelly in the background, smh…

Ashanti – Foolish:  Does anyone remember when this song came out?  It was a huge hit!

Brandy ft. Mase – Top of the World:  First, if you’ve never listened to Brandy’s Never Say Never album…do it now!  It’s a classic!  This is one of my favorite Brandy songs to dance to.

Donell Jones ft. Left Eye – U Know What’s Up:  I LOVED this song, especially with the remix with Left Eye (RIP)!  You can’t help but two-step to this song!

Kelis – Milkshake:  This song was HUGE a few years ago!  I love Kelis’s voice.  I may need to do a dedicated week all about Kelis on an upcoming Tunes Tuesday…

Michael Jackson – Workin’ Day And Night:  This is off of MJ’s Off the Wall album – definitely one of my favorites!  Off the Wall is such an underrated album!
