I hope you had a great week!  April is already flying and I had a great Easter.  It wasn’t my best week of training for the Buffalo Half Marathon, but time marches on and I have plenty of time to make things up in the weeks ahead!

Oh – and good luck to all of the Boston Marathon runners today – I wish I could do what you do!

I’m joining Courtney of Eat Pray Run DC for her Weekly Training Recap linkup and HoHo and Tricia for the Weekly Wrap!  These are great ways to keep accountable and share your workouts with fellow runners!

Weekly Wrap:  Easter Weekend

I had a very lovely and relaxing Easter weekend!  I had Good Friday off so I took advantage and did a lot of straightening up of the house – rearranging things in the basement, moving things into the attic, etc.  Bret’s sister and brother-in-law were in town and we got together for dinner and some pool at a local neighborhood bar on Saturday night.  We had a really good time!

I also watched a LOT of Netflix.  I finished the Master of None series (which I’m excited to see that Season 2 is on its way), watched way too many episodes of Frasier, and finally decided to finish up the latest season of How to Get Away With Murder, though it’s still a work in progress!  Some things were spoiled for me so I stopped watching, but my sister said it’s worth the watch, so I’m sucked in all over again.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures to share from Easter…we had a delicious spread for Easter brunch but I was more about relaxing than getting photo opps!  I hope you had a great holiday if you celebrate!

Workouts for the Week

Monday 4/10:  The day after the Run for Clean Air…my quads and hamstrings were still pretty sore.  Instead of doing my 4-mile run, I did a strength training workout – mountain climbers, jump squats, planks, etc.  Better than doing nothing!

Tuesday 4/11:  I wanted to run in the morning before work with Bret but it didn’t happen…I went to yoga class with the regular crew and had a great time.  My headstand practice continues to improve and Darlene, my teacher, is really proud of me!  I waffled with the idea of running after yoga, but it was still so hot out…

Wednesday 4/12:  Spinning class after work – the first time in several weeks!  The class was really intense and I worked really hard to maximize the workout.

Thursday 4/13:  It was the last day of work and my boss was generous enough to invite us out for happy hour.  By the time I got home, it was too late to go for a run.  But it was worth it to get to know my coworkers better.

Friday 4/14:  4-mile progression run.  It was almost perfect except that my second mile split was a little slow.  My last mile has a long hill climb and I was determined to stay strong – I was pleased to see it was my fastest mile, around 10:40!

Saturday 4/15:  8-mile run!  It was really humid out but I was happy to keep a pretty solid pace.  I wore my new trail shoes and they worked great on Forbidden Drive.

Sunday 4/16:   Barre class was canceled for the holiday but I did go for a walk with family on Easter morning that was at least 4.5 miles long.  It was SO hot!!

Week 3 Report Card:

I missed my easy run this past week, and to be honest, I feel terrible about it.  We had extremely warm weather this past week and I worked a little too hard to avoid it.  I should have run on Monday as was originally planned but I just didn’t have the motivation.  Hot and humid weather is a way of life in Philadelphia and I have to accept that, even if it’s only April!  So despite all the workouts that I did successful complete, I’m going to give my week 3 of training a B-.

How was your holiday weekend?  Will you be watching the Boston Marathon today?
