Sometimes you need some one-hit wonders to take you back to simpler times…or maybe that’s just me! It’s time for another Tunes Tuesday and my latest playlist is as random as it gets!

Tunes Tuesday: Random One Hit Wonders
My random taste in music is why I really enjoy Tunes Tuesdays. I can share what I love, introduce people to artists they may have never known otherwise, and basically jam out every single day!
Some people like to call their music tastes “eclectic” but I’m going to be honest…the music I listen to is completely random! I blame the radio, MTV, BET, having a diverse group of friends, taking several music courses in college, and Limewire (RIP) for the broad variety of music genres that I’ve absorbed over the years!
One hit wonders is a “genre” of music that I could get lost in for days, so I’m hoping that over the next few months, I’ll be able to really grow this playlist with some really random, crazy stuff that you’ll enjoy! There are so many different directions that I look forward to exploring when it comes to one hit wonders, but for this first round of random hits, I’m starting with some standard hits with hopefully a few surprises! I Love Your Smile – Shanice: Whatever happened to Shanice? This was a great song!
This Is How We Do It – Montell Jordan: Okay we here this one on TV all the time, but it’s just that good! Montell Jordan will never go broke!
Your Woman – White Town: Another jam from the late 90’s. I need to watch the music video!
What Is Love – Haddaway: I will stop whatever I’m doing for this song…seriously!
How Bizarre – OMC: This has to be the most random song on my very random list, haha! But I loved this music video and I loved the song!
Return of the Mack – Mark Morrison: I’m sitting here bobbing my head to this song while I write this post!
Party All the Time – Eddie Murphy: I was on an 80’s music kick for a while in college…and this was definitely one of my favorite songs. Eddie Murphy singing is comedic in and of itself! And shoutout to Rick James!
Bitter Sweet Symphony – The Verve: A little bit of a more mellow tune, but I’m still a big fan of this song! Makes me want to watch Cruel Intentions, haha!
I Wanna Be Bad – Willa Ford: She was supposed to be the next Britney, or so I thought…lol! I still like this song!
Tubthumping – Chumbawamba: This song should have been on my marathon motivation playlist! It’s like I’m in the 6th grade again, lol!
Blue (Da Ba Dee) – Eiffel 65: Okay, I will admit that I own their album. But I bought it like 10 years after they were popular LOL. I listen to this song at least once a week no lie!
I Wish – Skee-Lo: I wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a baller…at least he was honest, LOL!
Sick of Being Lonely – Field Mob: Watching this music video takes me waaaay back!
Never Leave You (Uh Ooh, Uh Ooh) – Lumidee: The song is terribly out of tune, but all you need is a good beat to be a hit, right?!

I’ve always loved ‘This Is How We Do It’ by Montell Jordan. That song is part of a long-time running joke in my family so we always laugh and dance when it comes on LOL

It’s crazy how some of these memorable hits are by artists who never hit it big again. I wonder what happened?? Maybe enough was enough. How about Funky Cold Medina by Tone Loke? 😀
Yeah it’s almost sad to think about how they were so big and then vanished…I forgot about Funky Cold Medina, that’s taking it back too!
I dont recognize alot of these but I wonder if i would know them if I heard them! Its always fun to find random song and mix things up.
A lot of these jams are from the 90’s. As I was creating the playlist I would find even more random songs I forgot about, lol! I’ll definitely have some more variety for next month!
My husband is constantly adding music from itunes and I’m terrible at updating mine!! Thanks for the suggestions- I can use all the help I can get. 🙂

Another one hit wonder I love is “Round and Round” by Ratt. I know, so bad.
But aren’t bad one hit wonders so good? Love it!
There was a radio station on SIRIUS for a hot minute that played ONE HIT WONDERS. I don’t think it’s around anymore but it was HANDS DOWN my favorite!!
I would have LOVED to listen to that station!

I recently started listening to vinyl records again and one of the best parts is rediscovering those lost hits. As a child of the 80s, Eddie Murphy did it all, but singing was not his forte, still love the song, though.
