What’s your favorite decade? While I’m very partial to the 00’s, the 90’s was my childhood and the music of that era gives me so many memories! For this week’s Tunes Tuesday, I’m sharing some of my favorite 90’s music that gets me pumped up on a run or during a workout!
The Tunes Tuesday linkup is hosted by Steff from Run Steff Run, Kimberly from Kooky Runner, and me! We’d love you to link up with us and share your favorites! The theme for the third Tuesday of the month is to get pumped up! Maybe you’ll find some new songs to add to your workout playlist or at least a nice blast from the past!
And in case you missed it – here are my previous pump up music playlists:
Every Tuesday we’ll be sharing our favorite music with a different theme each week. We hope it’ll be a fun way to find new music to listen to and also get to know each other a little bit better!Tunes Tuesday: Pump Up Songs of the 90s Click To Tweet
We had a lot of great, memorable music in the 90’s, and the more that I make these music playlists for Tunes Tuesday, the more I realize how stuck I am in that decade, haha! So I figured it was time to dedicate a playlist to even more of my favorite 90’s songs, but this time focus on music that can really get you pumped up!
Who did you love listening to in the 90’s? If you haven’t noticed, my music tastes are very eclectic and I enjoy a variety of genres. This month’s pump up playlist, one of my largest so far, reflects that diversity – going from pop, to rock, to hip-hop, to dance music. Sometimes it doesn’t really make any sense from one song to the next, but somehow it still works, lol! There were so many random songs that I enjoyed growing up, but I’d love to dig deeper and learn a little more about some of these artists’ work. That’s why I love about Tunes Tuesday – I always get inspired by new music!
Without further ado, here’s my playlist for pump up songs from the 90’s, mixed with my Tunes Tuesday Pump Up Music Playlist on Spotify!
Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It – Will Smith: I am a HUGE Will Smith fan. Yes, I bought his CD’s and listened to them religiously. And yes, I usually kept that fact to myself haha! I will still blast this song in my car!
U Can’t Touch This – MC Hammer: Have you seen MC Hammer in commercials recently with those famous pants? I love it! This will always be a classic!
California Love – 2Pac ft. Dr. Dre: 2Pac is a little more of gangsta than the aforementioned rappers LOL. I remember when this song came out and they played it on the radio constantly!
Whoomp! (There It Is) – Tag Team: This was a huge hit back in the early 90’s! Whatever happened to Tag Team?
O.P.P. – Naughty by Nature: I had no idea what the song was about LOL but it was catchy!
Jump – Kris Kross: They were such trendsetters when they came out…everyone was wearing their pants backward, haha! Watch the music video if you want a good laugh!
My Name Is – Eminem: I like a lot of Eminem songs but I had to throw way back to the first single. I can still see Em dressed up like Bill Clinton, smh!
Together Again – Janet Jackson: The Velvet Rope was such a great album. I heard this song during a barre class and it reminded me how much I used to love dancing to this song!
Here We Go – *NSYNC: This is a fun, upbeat song. I need to watch the music video of the guys playing basketball and their signature choreography…so cheesy!
Another Night – Real McCoy: This was one of those weird European dance groups that had random hits back in the day, LOL – no offense! I never knew what the guy was rapping about but the hook always reeled me in!
Fly – Sugar Ray: Whatever happened to Sugar Ray? I loved them!
Song 2 – Blur: I think it’s been used in every car commercial, LOL! Woohoo!
Still D.R.E. – Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg: How do you not want to turn up the music when you hear that intro?! I listen to this song pretty regularly!
It’s All About the Benjamins – Puff Daddy: This is the rock remix – it’s really high energy!
Hate Me Now – Nas ft. Puffy Daddy: Nas is a great artist. This is also a pretty good motivating song too!
Smells Like Teen Spirit – Nirvana: I didn’t know a thing about Nirvana when I was a kid, but this is a great song.
I Like to Move It – Reel 2 Real: Of course there was an animated movie that made this song pretty famous…
Here Comes the Hotstepper – Ini Kamoze: Whenever I hear this song, I start to dance! It’s got a great beat and a catchy hook, what’s not to love?
This is Your Night – Amber: I still turn this song up when I hear it, I don’t know what it is!
What 90’s music really gets you pumped up? What music is on your running/workout playlist lately?
