I hope you’ve had a great week so far! If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I have quite a busy racing season planned and I have 3 more races to look forward to before my summer training break! One of these races is the Rock ‘N Roll Seattle Half Marathon on Sunday, June 18. It’ll be my first time running it and visiting Seattle and I couldn’t be more excited! So this week, I thought I would share 5 reasons why you should join me in Seattle!
I’m joining Fairytales and Fitness and Running on Happy for the Friday 5 2.0! The theme this week is in honor of Mother’s Day, so be sure to check out their sites and find some great gift ideas!

I’ve been running races for over 6 years now, and one thing I’ve realized is that I’m a huge fan of Rock ‘N Roll races. My very first half marathon was the Rock ‘N Roll Philly and it will always hold a special place in my heart. Since then, I’ve got 7 RNR races under my belt and (at least) 3 more to run in 2017! This will be my first time running on the West Coast, so I’m really excited to run in a new part of the country! Here are the reasons why I’d love you to join me in Seattle!
The Rock ‘N Roll Seattle races include the 5K on Saturday and the half marathon and full marathon on Sunday. The marathon and half marathon will take off at 7:00 a.m. on Montlake Blvd. before crossing over Montlake Bridge. Next, runners will head through Washington Park Arboretum followed by Madison Park neighborhood where they will be greeted by beautiful views of Lake Washington. The race will continue with marathon runners breaking off towards Seward Park before joining half marathon runners on Rainier. The marathon will then continue on the Viaduct. Both courses will finish at CenturyLink Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks!
I’m also hearing that the course elevation is much more manageable than in previous years, so if you’re averse to hills, this might be the perfect race for you! The video above shows a great preview of the half marathon and marathon courses. It looks like a great mix of greenery and city landscapes!
I have a huge weight off my shoulders now that I finally have my flight and hotel booked for my very first trip to Seattle! This will be my last race of the spring racing season, so while I plan to just run it for fun, I want to end things with a bang! I’d love to meet up with some fellow runners before or after the race, or really anytime during race weekend. I’m looking forward to the sights, sounds, and tastes of Seattle and I don’t even know where to begin. If you live in the area or plan to run the race, let me know!! I’ve been told I’m pretty cool to hang out with 😉
Rock ‘N Roll races are well-known for their beautiful race medals, and as you can see above, the Seattle medals do not disappoint! I’m really excited to add the half marathon medal to my collection! And the more Rock ‘N Roll medals you earn in a year, the more bonus swag you earn in their Heavy Medals program! Since I am a BibRave Pro and will be attending at least 4 RNR races this year, I couldn’t resist but sign up for some bonus medals…but I won’t be doing the Remix Challenge in Seattle!
The Space Needle. The Original Starbucks. The Chihuly Garden and Glass. Pike Place Market. The Seattle Great Wheel. These are just a few items on my short list that I hope to check out! And can I admit that I’m hoping there is some Frasier-related tour that I can find? It’s still one of my most favorite shows! I’ve heard such wonderful things about Seattle (despite the rain), so I can’t wait to explore the city!
