Can you believe that it’s time to think about fall races?  You may already have a few races on your calendar for the fall and are in the midst of race training.  One race that I’m really excited about doing is the Rock ‘n Roll Brooklyn Half Marathon taking place on Saturday, October 14, 2017!  It will be my first time running in New York City!

A few weeks ago, I gave you 5 reasons to run Rock ‘N Roll Montreal.  Today, I’m sharing why you should join me in Brooklyn!

Run Rock ‘n Roll Brooklyn – 5 Reasons Why

Living in Philadelphia, it’s great to be so close to Washington, DC and New York City, but even though it’s only 2 hours away, I never seem to make it to New York.  When I got the opportunity to run in Brooklyn, I had to sign up!  Here are the reasons why I think this will be a great race – maybe I’ll see you there!

Run through Prospect Park

My favorite thing about running is exploring “new” places on foot.  I’ve never been to Prospect Park and it looks absolutely beautiful!  About half of the race takes place through the park, and since this is a fall race, I imagine the foliage would be the perfect backdrop for a run!  Check out this video from last year highlighting Prospect Park!

There’s a Brand New 5-Mile Course

If 13.1 miles seems overwhelming or you’ve already got too many distance races on your calendar, maybe you’d be more interested in running the 5 miler – it’s a brand new for 2017!   The route is entirely in Prospect Park and you’ll get a great finisher medal!  It sounds like a great way to start your Saturday morning!

By the way, you can register right now for the 5 miler for only $49.99 – but the price will increase at 12:00am PT on Thursday, July 27, 2017, so don’t delay!

Enjoy a Weekend in NYC!

After a great run in Central Park!

Another great thing about this race is that unlike many city long distance races, it falls on a Saturday!  This works perfectly for me because I can enjoy a weekend in New York City and still have a day to recover before going back to work on Monday!  I’m sure you know all of the amazing things that you can do in NYC – museums, restaurants, theater, etc.  Some highlights I look forward to checking out include:

  • Coney Island – I’ve never been there!
  • The Brooklyn Bridge
  • Green-Wood Cemetary
  • Brooklyn Brewery

I’d love recommendations on good places to eat in New York/Brooklyn!

Earn Some More Great Bling!

Rock ‘n Roll races are known for their unique race medals, and as you can see, Brooklyn is no exception!   When I ran Rock ‘n Roll Seattle earlier this year, I spent SO much time at the expo and picked up some great gear.  I’m looking forward to adding to the collection for RNR Brooklyn.

You Can Sign Up With a Discount!

A very nice perk of being a BibRave Pro Ambassador is that I always have some race discounts to share!  If you want to run the Rock ‘N Roll Brooklyn Half this year, save $15 on registration with code BIBRAVE15!  You can also use the same code to save on other Rock ‘N Roll Races this year including Philly, Vegas, Chicago, Virginia Beach, San Antonio, Arizona, and more!
