Right now I’m in the middle of my summer running off-season. It’s still a weird concept for me since I’ve had such a busy few months of racing this year, but one of the things that I can do is look forward to planning my next race – the Rock ‘n Roll Montreal half marathon on September 24, 2017!
I’ve really started to get the hang of this racecation thing, lol. This race will give me the opportunity to have my first visit to Montreal, Quebec, and I hope that Bret and I will have a wonderful experience enjoying the culture and hopefully have strong finish times! If you’re still looking for a fall race, RNR Montreal just might be the one for you. Today I’m sharing 5 reasons why you should consider checking it out!
I’m linking up with Marcia, Patty, and Erika for Tuesdays on the Run, Susie, Debbie, Lora, and Rachel for the Running Coaches Corner and Annmarie, Nicole, and Jen for Wild Workout Wednesday! I’m also joining Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday 5 2.0!Looking for an awesome race this fall? Regardless of my status as a current BibRave Pro and a former Rock ‘n Blogger, I will always have a love for Rock ‘n Roll races! I have now run their races in Philly, Washington, DC, and Seattle, and no matter the city you choose, you’re going to get a great tour of the sights and have an overall fun experience! So why not add Montreal to your bucket list? Here are my 5 reasons why Montreal should be on your radar – I’d love if you joined me this year!
Being from Buffalo, New York, I sometimes take for granted that Canada is another country since I grew up so close to the border! The Rock ‘n Roll Montreal Half Marathon will be my first time running a race outside of the United States and I couldn’t be more pumped!
If you’ve been looking for an international race to sign up for this year, consider Montreal! Citizens speak both French and English so the language barrier shouldn’t be too much of an issue, and if you live on the East coast, it’s a very affordable destination to fly or drive!
Need more incentive? If you’ve already planned or completed a Rock ‘n Roll race in the United States and you also run in Montreal, you’ll get the bonus World Rocker medal for running in two different countries in a calendar year! How cool is that?!
I’m really looking forward to running through the city of Montreal! This year, RNR will be offering a 1K and 5K on Saturday and a 10K, half marathon, and full marathon on Sunday so there are plenty of options to choose from.
Just a few of the highlights along the course include the Montreal Biosphere, Notre Dame Basilica, Old Montreal, and La Fontaine Park. And in typical Rock ‘n Roll fashion, there will be plenty of live bands performing along the race course to keep you entertained. I’m hearing that there are a couple of challenging hills near the end of the course, but overall, it’s pretty flat…PR, anyone?
Check out the video above highlighting the marathon course, it looks great! Fingers crossed that late September will provide perfect running weather in Montreal!
I’m very excited to be running this race and I would love to meet you if you’re from the area or if you’ll be racing in Montreal over the weekend! When I went to the Seattle race in June, I really didn’t get to see too many folks, so I’m super excited that my girl Kim from KookyRunner will be running and we’ll finally get to meet in person!
Rock ‘n Roll races are infamous for their swag! I’ve really enjoyed collecting different types of tank tops and beer glasses from different cities and have no shame in the amount of swag I know I’ll end up buying in Montreal! This year, the Montreal full and half marathon medal designs have been revealed and they look amazing! The 1K, 5K, and 10K distances will also have unique medals!
The Remix Challenge will also be offered during race weekend – so if you sign up to participate in races on both Saturday and Sunday, you’ll get a bonus race medal! The Montreal Remix medal hasn’t been posted yet, but so far this year they have had a unique guitar design! What’s not to love?
