Well, the summer definitely feels like it’s over now as we enter September! This weekend is Labor Day and I’m really looking forward to some good food on the grill, how about you?
Since it’s the first Saturday in September, meaning that it’s time to join Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date! While this is a running blog, sometimes it’s refreshing to just talk about everyday life! Let’s catch up!

Ultimate Coffee Date – September 2017
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that I’m really excited for our Montreal trip coming up in just a few short weeks! Not only are we having an extended weekend vacation, Bret and I will also be running the Rock ‘n Roll Montreal Half Marathon! If you’ve ever been to Montreal, do you have any recommendations on things to do, places to go, restaurants to try?? I want to hear it all! And do I need to start practicing my French now? LOL!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that I kind of wish that I watched this past season of Game of Thrones. Believe when I say I’m glad that the hype is over, but I really feel like I’ve missed out on something great! I’ve seen a few pieces of various episodes since Bret watches the show, but for whatever reason, I refused to watch one minute of this latest season! Do you watch GoT? Should I try to catch up or is it a lost cause?
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that we’re FINALLY planning a housewarming party at the end of the month! I’m really excited to “show off” the house and to hang out with some of our good friends. We honestly haven’t really had anyone over since we moved, and now that we have a grill and football season is here, we’re finally “ready” to host a party! Is it bad that it’s taken over a year to get to this point? LOL!

I’ve been browsing through the free selections from Amazon Prime and I read one light “chick lit” book, but I’d like to get into something a little juicier. My neighbors are still hosting the monthly book club and I have yet to start this month’s selection, “Brothers and Keepers”. At some point I’d like to host the book club, but I have no idea what type of book I would choose. Any good ones that you recommend? I’m pretty open when it comes to genres!

I have not seen any of the Game of Thrones…and do not know anything about it other than that it’s hot stuff right now. Maybe that will be a show to consider when we finish up with Shameless (yes, we’ve been watching it on Netflix, I’m almost ashamed to admit that to anyone LOL).
LOL, I’ve never seen Shameless but I hear that one is really good. There are so many options for shows to watch these days that it’s overwhelming!
My husb watches GOT but it is too graphic for me! I’ve been reading pretty steadily this summer. The Handmaid’s Tale was probably the book I “had” to read. Stillhouse Lake was a good suspense story.

I have never seen GOT – I know, I know, totally weird since it’s so popular! It’s just not my jam – I prefer comedies.

I don’t think it’s unusual that you’ve been in your house a year before having anyone over …every time I move to a new house, I don’t !want to have any dinner parties until I have everything decorated just the way I want! While the hubs is always wanting to invite people over right away. Guess it’s a woman thing. lol
Game of Thrones ….just not interested. The hubs has been watching it lately while I blog and I just can’t get in to it. Glad to know I’m not the only one ….I was thinking it was because I’m old! Lol

Oh, it’s good to know that I’m not the only one that way! Now that we have a party date, I keep thinking about all the little things I can do to decorate the house. Maybe it’s forcing me to finally get some things done, lol!
Yeah, I love a good soap opera, but GoT is so complicated! Usually it would put me to sleep unless they have some big fight scenes. Too much to follow.
Ooh, I have an app on my phone that I need to use to practice French. I used to be pretty decent at it while in school but I’ve completely forgotten everything, sigh…thanks for the tip!
Your upcoming trip to Montreal sounds really fun! I hope you have a great time and good luck at the race, too. We are about 3-4 seasons behind in GoT. I’m super biased, but you should absolutely watch/catch up on Game of Thrones–it’s worth it! (Just don’t let yourself have any favorite characters because no one is safe. ;_; )

I just finished reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and when I finished, I was initially disappointed. Then I thought about it and you know what? It would have been a really good book club book. A little controversial and really entertaining.

Yay for the housewarming party!!! We moved in April and still have not had a housewarming party. Lots of people have asked but we have a lot of work we want done before we have people over.
