Ultimate Coffee Date – February 2018
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that this past week has been SO draining! Work has been particularly grueling and I spend 80-90% of my days in very long meetings. We are definitely getting work done, but the phase of the project right now is all about negotiations and we’ve been handed many curveballs along the way. On top of that, I’ve been keeping very busy with marathon training, and my Tuesday and Thursday runs are 5 miles a piece! I’ve been falling asleep early every night…I need some serious rest this weekend!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…how much I appreciate everyone’s kind words as I deal with my mother’s recent passing. Some days are better than others. I’ve been having a lot of flashbacks and memories of our time together as a kid, especially in high school when I was the last one still home and it was just the two of us most of the time. Losing my mother suddenly and at such a young age (she was only 64) has shaken me to the core, but I am doing my best to focus on the positive, be grateful that I was able to say goodbye, and remember how blessed I truly am. I’m glad she’s in a MUCH better place and no longer has to suffer or feel any pain.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that wedding planning has still been in progress. You may remember that I was keeping busy checking out venues almost every weekend. I had a really extensive list of venues with all the details broken out…and now I’m down to 2 locations…I think! I went to a venue last weekend and loved it…then we had brunch in the restaurant and the food was awful! I had the worst chicken and waffles in my life and I felt like I had food poisoning! Needless to say, that spot is off the list. But on a brighter note, I have an appointment to try on wedding dresses Saturday night! I’m nervous but excited…I have no idea what type of dress will suit my body type. I hope to come out with some inspiration!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that Super Bowl Sunday is a very exciting time for us Philadelphians! I am not an Eagles fan by any stretch of the imagination, but considering that I’ve lived in this city for so long and I was a freshman in college when the Eagles played the Patriots 13 years ago…I’m really looking forward to the rematch. Philly sports fans are pretty scary though…whether they win or lose, they will be absolutely unbearable for the rest of the year! But I’d rather them be happy than angry! As for the Halftime Show, I have a love/hate relationship with Justin Timberlake, so I’m torn as to whether I’ll watch his performance. I also have vivid memories of watching him and Janet “make history” at the Super Bowl, and feel “some type of way” about how he got out of that situation without consequences. But I digress!

Sorry work has been so draining, but I am the type of person that likes to be able to bury myself in something else. I am sure reflecting on those memories are bittersweet, but keep savoring them and treasuring them. Yikes on the venue food — good thing you tried it out!
True, the work has been a distraction of sorts, but long meetings are so boring LOL!
I am such a food snob, I would never forgive myself if I picked a caterer that had less than stellar food at my wedding, lol! Definitely dodged a bullet!

I’d share with you that I never expected to be the first one of my friends to get married. Even though I’m a girly girl, I’d never at all spent time daydreaming about my wedding.
In fact, I wore my sister’s dress, simply because I just couldn’t see spending that many $$ on a dress (and no, it’s not what I would have chosen). The good thing about it was that my mom did most f the organizing and in general it was rather low stress for me. Which I kind of feel bad writing, considering the circumstances.
I’m excited for the Superbowl, but more for the commercials than anything. I didn’t care much for JT in his earlier days, but he does seem to have matured. I remember the last time he took the stage at the Superbowl LOL Have fun feeling like a princess in all those bridal gowns….you’ll probably know immediately when you’ve found “The Dress.”
I thought the commercials were much better this year than last year! I used to be a big Justin fan but I think I’m officially over him now, lol!
I do think I found “the Dress”…maybe?! Lol!
Heartfelt condolences on the loss of your mom. I’m glad you have those special memories from high school when it was mostly just the two of you. Those will forever be in your heart.

Oh! I am so sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. I lost my mom when I was a senior in high school. My heart goes out to you, but how exciting to have a wedding to look forward to! Good luck dress shopping and finding a venue.

Haha, the theme of January being long and/or miserable seems to be the case for a lot of folks! Haha! I did think it felt long to me, and the weather was crazy here in Florida. One minute it’s cold, then the next it’s warm again. Florida seems like it never knows what to do with the winter months.
So sorry to hear about your mom, sending a big hug your way. I’m sure she is keeping watch over you from above now.
No Super Bowl for me, not a football fan. But, you can’t help hearing all about the game these days. I know a few Eagles fans down my way.
I’m a Giants fan so I dislike both team (lol), BUT Tom Brady and the Patriots really rub me the wrong way so I hope that Philly wins!
I also feel a certain type of way about JT after hat whole Super Bowl debacle He definitely got off WAY too easy. I’m actually not really looking forward to the halftime show, but let’s see what he does…

Wedding dress shopping will be so fun! I’m sure you will make a the right choice and be a stunning bride. You’ll come to cherish any memory you have of your Mom. My Mom has been gone almost 10 years. At first when she appeared in my dreams, it made me sad. Now I like having her there. It’s as if she isn’t gone and we can spend some time together.
I was not loving the JT performance and then…he did the Prince tribute 🙂 It was beautiful! …and the streets lighting up purple in MN – amazing, then I liked JT after that lol Hope you had a ball dress shopping!
Karen – the Prince tribute was definitely a highlight, but I would have rather some other artist honored Prince. The purple city was really cool though!

I thought I was the only person who had a love-hate relationship with JT! I had the halftime show on in the background but I couldn’t bring myself to watch it.
I hope you enjoyed dress shopping! I was in the same boat about not knowing what looked good on me. I ended up getting a dress that was exactly what I said I wouldn’t get. However, I put it on and just knew it was it. I had never felt prettier! I hope you have that same experience!
I ended up watching the show but I didn’t enjoy it one bit – boring!
Dress shopping was fun! Of course the first dress I tried on was the one I liked the best. It was what I envisioned, but I just wasn’t sure it would look right on me, lol. I did try some crazy mermaid dresses for a laugh, that was fun!
