It’s the first week of May – does that mean that spring weather is here for good? I really hope so!
It’s time for one of my favorite posts – looking back at my running goals for the previous month and creating new goals for the next month! It really does help me to stay motivated and on top of my game. Now that marathon mode is over, how do I move forward?
April was so busy for me! For this past month, I ran a 5K, a 15K, and a marathon: I ended up running a little over 121 miles! I’ve never run two 100-mile months in a row, so needless to say, I am really looking forward to having a BREAK from all of this race training, haha! I gave myself some very reasonable goals for the month of April, so let’s see how I did:
Religiously perform every single injury prevention exercise.Grade: B-. I did a lot better with this goal as I got closer to the New Jersey Marathon. Could I have done more, sure, but I’ll take it!
Use Hello Fresh to stay on top of cooking healthy meals. Grade: A. Hello Fresh was definitely made for me! It’s been a huge help in my household, finally I’ve found a system that works for me! I’ll definitely write a post about my experience in the near future.
Complete the New Jersey Marathon strong and with a smile! Grade A-. The last mile of the marathon was SO HARD, but I did my best to push through and smile!! I can’t wait to see the finish line photos, lol!
Focus on marathon recovery and self-care. I don’t have any races lined up until August, and I’m so happy about that because I can truly focus on fully recovering from the marathon! It’s weird to not have any races for May or June, but after such a busy winter and spring, I think I deserve a training break! I need to get some serious rest, make some appointments for massage therapy, and see if this plantar fasciitis recovers or requires more serious investigation. I also look forward to getting my weekends back and who knows, maybe I’ll sleep in past 7 am for once?
Get back to barre and yoga class. With my new-found freedom, I’m also really looking forward to spending more time in the studio taking yoga and barre classes. I’ve really missed it these past few weeks! Barre always makes me feel strong, while yoga has a way of relaxing me like nothing else. I can’t wait!
Continue cooking healthy meals with Hello Fresh. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Hello Fresh is working great for me so I want to keep it up! Who knows, maybe I’ll make some more interesting meals in between? Crazier things have happened, haha! Don’t forget, if you’d like to save $40 on your first box, you can use my referral link!
How did you do in the month of April? What are your running goals for May?
