After so much hard work and preparation for the New Jersey Marathon, it’s such a strange feeling to be out of the training cycle and back to having regular weekends! Trust me though, I’m not complaining!
Since it’s the first Saturday in May, it’s time to join Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date! While this is a running blog, sometimes it’s refreshing to just talk about everyday life! Let’s catch up – and be sure to check out Coco and Deborah’s sites to see what everyone’s talking about!
Let's catch up on life with the #ultimatecoffeedate! Click To TweetIf we were having coffee, I would tell you…that Steff, Kim, and I decided to retire the Tunes Tuesday linkup. Unfortunately, it never took off the way we hoped it would as we had very limited participation. We were hoping that fellow runners would share some of the music they enjoy to listen to on the run. But in any event, I really enjoyed creating all my playlists – I also ended up discovering a lot of great, “new” music in the process! Thanks to everyone who joined in the fun! I’ll probably get back to creating some Throwback Thursday Running Playlists every once in a while!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that I saw Avengers: Infinity War a few days ago and it was so good! Don’t shame me, but I’ve never seen Captain America, Thor, Dr. Strange, Hulk, the second Guardians of the Galaxy, the latest Spiderman, or any of the previous Avengers movies. It’s been impossible to keep up with them all, but Infinity War and Black Panther were so good that I think I’m going to finally start drinking the Marvel Kool-Aid!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that my blogging calendar for the year is almost completely empty minus my monthly goal posts! I originally hoped that I would spend more time writing quality content in 2018, but as you know, life often gets in the way. I’ll be coming up to my 5-year blogiversary this July, so I need to get back in the groove! I really miss spending hours writing posts that I hoped would help other runners and wannabe runners. I’m looking forward to having more free time to do just that!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that my 10 year college reunion is coming up next weekend! The University of Penn knows how to throw a party, so I’m expecting a really great time. It’ll be nice to see everyone in person after all these years (rather than on Facebook). Thankfully I don’t have to worry about losing weight before the reunion, but I definitely could use some fashion sense, lol! Where’s the best place to buy a cute cocktail dress that isn’t reminiscent of Forever 21? LOL!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you...that wedding planning has been in a bit of a lull lately. I recently sent out the Save the Dates and have paid deposits for the caterer, band, and photographer. We need to schedule an engagement session, but we’re waiting for the trees to fill in because we’re taking photos in our favorite place…the Wissahickon! We also need to meet with a prospective officiant – hopefully we can set up that meeting soon. Every decision point I’ve made so far has been painstakingly detailed…I contacted over 20 photographers before finally choosing one, smh! The wedding is less than 6 months away, so now I just need to follow my gut when it comes to decisions since time isn’t on my side! I haven’t been getting any questions about the wedding yet from family, so I guess I should just enjoy this calm before the storm! More than anything, I spend time on wedding Facebook groups and read all of the dramatic posts over there, haha!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you...that I’m really going to try this “running for fun” thing over the next couple of months. I’m not training for any races, so I want to keep a decent base mileage but not take it too seriously. Bret and I love to run, and it means a lot to him that we spend more time running for fun. There are so many great trails where we live and I’m champing at the bit to explore. I’d also really like to try one of the local running groups (though it’s still super scary LOL) and especially get back to joining City Fit Girls! Running isn’t just about PRing races. It’s about community. So as long as I can sleep in a little longer on the weekends to do it, I’m all in!
What would you share with me over coffee? Are you running for fun now or training for a race?
