Happy Global Running Day! This running holiday takes place annually on the first Wednesday of June. You may have heard that there are some deals to be had on various races – I’ve already received several emails with tons of discounts. Scoop up a good deal if you have the chance!
Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be doing any running today. I’m still having foot issues and I have to listen to my body and give myself more rest. But in the spirit of Global Running Day, I thought it would be fun to fill out this “Would You Rather” survey, compliments of Wendy from Taking the Long Way Home. Run with no socks or no sports bra? No sports bra, lol! Fortunately, I can get away with that, haha!
Run a mile naked or in a snowsuit? I’d do a naked mile if I could hide my face, LOL! I would get too hot and trip over myself in a snowsuit!
Run in the freezing cold or sweltering heat? Freezing cold! I talk about this all the time, but I can’t stand running in the heat…I get sweaty and gross and feel miserable! Fortunately, when I marathon training this past winter, I had plenty of days to experience single digit temperatures! My most memorable runs are always when it’s super super cold outside! In the picture below, the entire Schuylkill River was frozen!
Run on an empty stomach or full bladder? I have run races on a full bladder and it is NOT fun – I’d rather run on an empty stomach!
Run uphill or into a headwind? Both are challenging…I actually don’t mind either of them, but I’d probably pick the hill!
Run without music or without a GPS watch? That’s tough! I love running with music, especially when solo or on a long run. If I had to choose, I’d skip the GPS watch – or use an app like Runkeeper, haha!
Skip deodorant or Body Glide? Deodorant, definitely! On my last run, it was pretty warm out and I remembered why I need to wear Body Glide, lol! Chafing is not fun.
Run as much as you want on the treadmill or only once a week outside? I’m actually going to say treadmill. Sometimes my motivation is low and I think if I had a treadmill at home, at least I wouldn’t have to leave the house!
Run a beer mile or a color run? Hmm…I’ve never done either. It would depend on the type of beer! If it’s something like Coors Light, no thanks!
Run on a trail or the road? Trail! I always prefer running on trails, it’s so much more peaceful. Plus, I’d rather trip over a rock than fall in a pothole! I need to find some trail races this summer!
Run an out and back or a loop? When I do my training runs I usually do out-and-backs, but they’ve been starting to bore me lately!
Eat a slice of pizza mid-race or drink a milkshake? I’d definitely do the mid-race pizza, though I’d stay away from any spicy toppings!
Run in the rain or snow? The snow! I don’t mind the rain, to a point…but again, I love running in peaceful conditions.
Beer or chocolate milk at the finish line? First chocolate milk, then beer! I definitely find myself craving the chocolate milk more after a tough race. And again, I’m a little pickier when it comes to beer – local, craft brews are best!
