Good news – my feet are feeling MUCH better these days!  Could I possibly be making a breakthrough?!

It’s the start of a new week and my recovery from plantar fasciitis continues.  I have been in physical therapy since August and doing tons of exercises, hoping that I can get rid of my heel pain for good!  Sharing these recaps helps keep me accountable, and it also keeps me motivated to keep blogging!  I hope you enjoy following my progress.

I’m linking up with HoHo and Wendy for the Weekly Wrap! I’m also linking up with MarciaPatty, and Erika for Tuesdays on the Run,  DebbieLora, and Rachel for the Running Coaches Corner and Annmarie and Nicole for Wild Workout Wednesday!

Had a super productive week and a trip to Austin, sharing the details in the #weeklywrap! Click To Tweet

I'm sharing a weekly recap of my physical therapy and recovery from plantar fasciitis! Being injured sucks but I want to share my experiences and stay accountable!

Weekly Wrap: Visiting Austin, TX

The past week I spent 3 days in Austin, Texas for a work-related training course along with 3 other coworkers.  It was my first time in Austin so I was really looking forward to exploring a new city!  I arrived a day early so I had plenty of time to eat, relax, and then eventually go for a run!  I immediately thought of my girl Nicole who moved to Austin a year ago, but it turned out that she was on the East coast at the same time…rats!

I went to lunch at this awesome poke spot called Poke Bay right near my hotel. I didn’t order poke but I had this amazing teriyaki beef platter that was SO flavorful!  I thought I couldn’t eat the whole thing but I demolished it!  And the owners were so friendly!

It wasn’t until our last night in Austin where I got to have some authentic BBQ – it was really good!  I ordered a 1/2 pound of sirloin and a 1/2 pound of brisket along with grilled corn on the cobb and jalapeno mac n cheese – oops!  How in the world did I expect to eat all that food?!  Fortunately, I was able to finish it off when I got back in the hotel room!  Delicious!!

I wish I had more time to enjoy all that Austin offers, but hopefully, I’ll get to go back someday!  The course I took was great and I had a lot of fun.  Not too many pictures though!

Workouts for the Week:

Monday 9/10:  Yoga class is back with Amanda and the crew!  I was able to spend an hour in class.  We did lots of vinyasa moves that were honestly challenging for me thanks to all that upper body work!  My only PT session for the week:

Tuesday 9/11:  This cycle we have a new Tuesday yoga class with a new instructor.  I was a little nervous because I didn’t know how advanced the class would be, but I ended up really enjoying the class!  We did a lot of great moves and lots of stretches and even some core work.  I was able to stay for the full hour and the time went by so quickly!  On the PT front, I did some calf stretching and various foot stretching exercises.

Wednesday 9/12:  My first day in Austin!  After a little bit of walking around the University of Texas’s campus, I was able to get out and spend some time running and walking through the city!  I ran around the Capitol building, through downtown (and past a giant rainbow) and made my way on the trails.  I got a bit lost along the way, but I stopped recording on my Garmin after 4 miles!

Thursday 9/13:  I spent a little time in the hotel gym – 15 minutes on the elliptical, 3 sets of 12 bicep curls with 10-pound weights, 3 sets of 12 shoulder shrugs with 10-pound weights, and 2 sets of 20 situps.  It felt great doing some strength training for once!  After a long day at my training course, my coworkers and I went out for some BBQ and hit a few spots for happy hour.  It was a lot of fun!  All the walking around downtown turned out to be a good workout, and fortunately, I had no foot pain issues (thank you OOFOS)!

Friday 9/14:  The rest of my training class and then flying back to Philly.  I was way too tired to get up and workout this morning!

Saturday 9/15:  I was tempted to go to yoga class like the previous Saturday but decided to lounge around for most of the day instead!  I did do a little calf stretching and some toe yoga.

Sunday 9/16:  Another day of not doing much, just some toe stretches.

Hmm…I think I’ve missed using free weights!

Week 6 Report Card:

This was a great week!  I loved doing yoga, even though I am a bit rusty and need to get my upper body strength back on track!  My feet actually felt really, really good all week so I’m starting to feel optimistic that I’m finally getting better!  I’m going to give week 6 an A!  I really hope that the road to recovery is coming to an end very soon!!
