Runfessions Over Coffee – November 2018

Dec 01

Hello!  November is finally over and we’re in December!  I have to admit that I’m glad that November is over, lol!  I’m looking forward to finishing 2018 strong!

Since it was the last weekend of November and the first weekend of December, I’m joining  Marcia for Runfessions and Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date!  I want to share some of my thoughts on running over the past month and overall catching up over a virtual cup!  I’m all about my chai latte with almond milk!

I've got a few things to runfess...over coffee! #runfessions #ultimatecoffeedate Click To Tweet

The last Friday of the month means it's time for Runfessions, and this month, I'm talking about self-doubt as a runner. Time for some real talk!

November Runfessions Over Coffee

If we were having coffee, I’d runfess that I’ve really been missing running consistently, but I’m glad that I’m able to do what I can.  I’ve been doing 3 miles here and there, usually on the treadmill.  Thankfully, I haven’t been feeling pain while running, but I still need to be really diligent about stretching my calves.  I have my custom orthotics now, but I’m still in the 2 week break-in period so I can’t run with them yet.  I’m really curious to see if they take my running to the “next level” since I’ll have the support that my feet need.

If we were having coffee, I’d runfess that I was really hoping to get into the United NYC Half.  I found out that I didn’t make the lottery, but Bret did.  I’m happy for him of course, but I thought we’d both be sharing this new race experience.  I should have known better…I had a feeling that they wouldn’t pick me, because I just haven’t been running as much.  Oh well!  I will be there to cheer him on and any of my other running friends who will be racing (will you be there?).  I hope to finally meet Darlene!  And I’m hoping that Bret will finally let me give him so training tips as he strives to break 1:40 in the half.

If we were having coffee, I’d runfess that I don’t know what my running goals will be for 2019.  Usually, I have a big goal.  In 2016, I ran my first marathon.  In 2017, I wanted to PR in the half marathon, and I did!  In 2018, I ran my second marathon and PR’d!  But 2019 is looking like a rebuilding year.  What’s a good goal when coming back from injury?  Obviously not PR’ing…any tips are appreciated!

If we were having coffee, I’d runfess that I’ve gained a bit of weight these past few months, and now I’m at the point that it’s becoming more of a concern.  When I do certain workouts, I’m feeling pain in my lower back.  I’ve been working my core a lot more lately in yoga and barre, and yet, still the back pain.  I’m hoping getting those few pounds will help balance things out.  I’ve been eating horribly so I have to get things back in control.  I may not look like I’ve gained weight but if I told you the number you’d be shocked, haha!  Maybe some of it is muscle but…..nah, lol.

If we were having coffee, I’d runfess that I’ve been hiding out from the colder weather.  Yesterday the temperature was in the 40’s, perfect running weather this time of year, and I didn’t seize the opportunity!  I’m hoping that this is temporary because I LIVE for winter running!  It’s just been hard to face that cold air and I’ve been wary about running after work since it’s so dark.  I just need to shake it off, grab my layers and my Knuckle Lights and get back out there!  Even a couple of miles would make a huge difference!

So those are a few things that are on my mind lately, lol!  What runfessions would you share with me over coffee?
