I hope that you’ve been enjoying your summer so far! The weather in the Philadelphia area has been absolutely relentless, and when we’re not inundated with rainstorms, we getting scorched by the sun!
When I opted in to test out the Shady Rays Allure line of polarized sunglasses, I had no idea how desperately I would need them this year. I’ve never been big on sunglasses since I wear prescription glasses, but protecting your eyes are a serious matter so I wanted to give it a shot! Keep reading to check out my full review!

If you’re not familiar with the brand, Shady Rays have been around since 2012 and offer a huge variety of polarized and unpolarized sunglasses, including prescription wear! They are super stylish and you may have seen some of your favorite runners wearing them on Instagram while training for races or just out having fun in the sun.
The Allure is a new collection from Shady Rays and unlike some of the other models, these are made specifically for women. They can be used for active or casual use and have metal accents that I personally think adds a touch of class!

I was so excited to get the Purple Tortoise Allures in the mail a few weeks ago! They look even better in person than they do online! The colors are so vibrant and the fit is great (they’re actually more comfortable than my everyday glasses) – I can’t help but feel trendy when I wear them out and about!
While I think think that these are great, multipurpose glasses, I haven’t attempted to wear them while on the run just yet. Again, I normally run in my Rx glasses, but I’ll be honest – I haven’t wanted to fuss with contacts first thing in the morning in order to test them on a run! But what I have heard from other Pros, like Vanessa and Laura, is that they are great for running as well!
Once I get my act together, I’ll throw on my contacts and wear Shady Rays Allure as often as possible! Eye protection is often neglected when running in the summer, so I look forward to stepping out in these sunnies. I’d like to wear them on my drive to/from work, while waiting for the train, dining alfresco, and while at the beach on vacation (which can’t come soon enough!).
All in all, the Shady Rays Allure collection of polarized sunglasses is a winner! Now I finally “see” what the hype is about!
