Runfessions – Nearing End of Pregnancy!

Dec 28

Hey hey! I hope that you’re doing well and have enjoyed the holiday season! I’ve had a wonderful time and have been enjoying the time off work and relaxing while I still can!

I’m a little late to the party, but I couldn’t resist participating in Marcia’s monthly Runfessions! It’s hard to believe that these will be my last set of running confessions of the decade…I better make it good! I thought it’d be fun to share some of my thoughts as I’m apparently days away from my delivery!

It's crazy that this year and decade is almost over! Sharing my #runfessions in my latest blog post! Click To Tweet
The last Friday of the month means it's time for Runfessions, and this month, I'm talking about self-doubt as a runner. Time for some real talk!

Runfessions – End of Pregnancy Edition

I’m super jealous of everyone running right now

I’m currently 39 weeks pregnant! Crazy right?! I’m finally at the point of my pregnancy where I have stopped running. The last time I “attempted” to run was 2 weeks ago for the longest 3 miler of my life, lol. I’m proud to have lasted as long as I did. However, now that we’re having really mild weather, I’m super jealous of everyone who’s taking advantage and hitting the roads and trails, including my husband! I did go on a trail walk on Christmas Day, and that was nice…but it’s not the same!

I had some surprising weight gain the last couple of weeks

I am still within the healthy weight range for my pregnancy and thankfully everything is still going well, but it definitely took me by surprise to see where my weight has peaked lol! I’ve essentially gained about 30 pounds over the course of the pregnancy (not counting the few pounds I lost in the 1st trimester) and it seems like this month alone has taken me to the limit. I can’t blame anyone, but the access to all the sweets at holiday work and retirement parties has been too hard to resist! It’s just a little weird to see the scale so high, but it’s all for good reason and only temporary!

I’m still in awe of the shower gift from my running club

My boss threw an amazing baby shower for me at work a few weeks ago, and while I could go on about how delicious the cake was, I want to talk about how touching the entire event was. We received so many well wishes and generous gifts from my coworkers, but I was absolutely blown away when the Running Club at work pooled together to buy us a BOB jogging stroller! Unfortunately, I had already purchased it online a few days prior, but to think that they would do that for me just meant so much. That thing ain’t cheap! I can’t wait to be able to rejoin my crew on the trail with the stroller!

I do want to do write some running pregnancy posts…eventually!

In general, I’ve been disappointed with my frequency and quantity of posts in 2019. I really hope that someway, somehow, I’ll find some time to share my experiences during my pregnancy and the “tips” I’ve picked up along the way on the blog. There are so many topics related to running and fitness during pregnancy that I couldn’t find online, so I would really like to be a good resource and help others. I just need to take things one step at a time, one post at a time!

I’m super curious about my postpartum running journey in 2020

My body has already gone through a lot of changes this past year, and I know that I will go through even more as I recover from my labor and delivery. I’m very curious to see how my running will change. How many weeks or months will it take to feel back to normal? What will the new normal actually be? Now that’s something that I really look forward to experiencing and sharing with all of you!

What runfessions do you have to share? How was your holiday?
