So we’re finally in February! January is always the longest month of the year, isn’t it? In case it’s been a while since you’ve been around the blog, Happy New Year!
While I’m a day late, I’m joining Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date linkup! It’s a great opportunity to catch up on non-running, non-blogging things. Grab a cup and join me because I have SO much to share with you!
It's been too long since I've joined the #ultimatecoffeedate with @got2run4me and @deborahbrooks14! Click To TweetIf we were having coffee, I would tell you…that my little girl was born on on January 9, 5 days late and quite a bit heavier than we anticipated at 9 lb 5 oz! She is absolutely amazing and thankfully very healthy!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that physically, I have been doing pretty well. I ended up having to have an emergency C-section due to some last-minute complications. I actually went without meds during labor well past 9 centimeters, then once they broke my water it went downhill and breathing through the pain wasn’t enough LOL. It’s all a blur, but bottom line, beautiful baby E was born! With respect to recovery, it was rough the first few days but I was fortunate to see most of my weight drop in the first 2 weeks alone. Now, I still have the dreaded C-section “pooch”, but I think it has more to do with diastasis recti than anything. I’m hopeful that once I see my doctor in a couple of weeks, I’ll be able to get a plan on how to repair my ab separation and get back to working out. I think I actually miss barre class more than running right now!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that obviously, motherhood has been an adjustment haha. I’ve been nursing baby E about every 2 hours or so, and we’ve been cloth diapering which has actually gone pretty well! Being on maternity leave has also involved a lot of Netflix, Hulu, and Disney Plus. I was able to read one book so far this year on professional development, but t’s hard to get a lot of things done. Bret was home for 2 weeks, but now he’s back to work. Thankfully I have a lot of help at home with my sister and mother in law.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that I’m super irritated about the Trump impeachment trial because it prevented new episodes of General Hospital to air for like 2 weeks! For once, the show has actually been pretty juicy and well-written, so I look forward to being able to get back to that. Now it’s going to take even longer to drag through these storylines….
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that there was a LOT of change at work in the last month of the year. My boss suddenly left the company and my senior VP officially retired. Suddenly, my boss’s job was open and I was asked to interview for the position, just a few days before I departed for maternity leave! I didn’t get the job (and honestly I didn’t want it), but it was good to go through the process. I hadn’t updated my resume in over 6 years!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that I’m so glad that I was able to get a few moments to write this post! Obviously, blogging has shifted down in the priority list, but I love this place so much and really do want to stay connected with everyone! P.S. – Bret grew up watching the Chiefs and we’re rooting for them hard today at the Super Bowl! I hope it’s a great game!
What’s new in your world? What would you share with me over coffee?
