It’s gonna be May! I couldn’t resist…we are over 1/3 of the the way through 2020, and I know that people can’t wait for this crazy year to be over. I’m glad to have a fresh start in a new month, even though we’re still “trapped” in quarantine life.
Since it’s the first Saturday of the month, it’s time for the Ultimate Coffee Date with Deborah and Coco! I always love this linkup because we can talk about things besides running. Keep reading and let’s catch up with a cup!
Let's catch up for another virtual cup of coffee with the #ultimatecoffeedate with @deborahbrooks14 and @got2run4me! Click To TweetIf we were having coffee, I would ask you…how are you feeling these days? I know a lot of people are struggling. I can’t imagine having to “homeschool” a child or teenager while working full time from home. Are you binge-watching any good shows or has the well run dry for you? How have you been staying connected to others/keeping your sanity?
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…how I have been feeling lately about this life. It is strange, but I don’t mind spending time at home. We’ve been doing a lot of cleaning and organizing the house, finally getting to things that have been “on the list” for a while. It feels good to knock things out. I’m grateful to be able to spend more time with Baby E during the day and I don’t have to be out the door at 6:30 am to go to work since I’m able to work from home, though that has its good and bad days. The only thing I really miss is going out to restaurants and breweries, but we’ve been supporting local spots with curbside pickup and delivery. Once places open up again, I definitely won’t want to be crammed inside an establishment with other people! So that will be interesting…
If we were having coffee, I would tell you...that I can’t believe people still believe that the COVID-19 pandemic is a hoax. I only listen to a little bit of NPR at night, otherwise, I’ve been staying away from the news media and social media…it’s just too negative! I am just leaving it to the experts and following the recommendations from public health officials. Sure, I’d love to schedule a massage, hair appointment, eyebrow wax (seriously!!), pedicure, so on, but it’s not worth it. We have to be patient, wash our hands, wear our masks and do our best to support our medical heroes and local businesses. I hate how this has become so political when the focus should be saving people’s lives and livelihoods.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that surprisingly, since the quarantine, I am being much more active in the kitchen. On the cooking side, I’ve made crockpot chicken (for the most amazing tacos), black bean burgers (Julie’s recipe is clutch!), chickpea burgers (though the recipe was meh), and baked ziti from scratch. I’ve been trying to make meals that we can eat for a couple of nights, and it’s really helped take the pressure off. On the baking side, I made Deborah’s cranberry oatmeal bliss breakfast cookies, and this week I made a banana bread with chocolate chips.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that we’re getting the exterior of our home repainted. I’m really excited about it, though it was agonizing trying to decide on the right color for the wood trim…I was torn between dark blue and forest green! But now that we’ve committed, I can’t wait to see how it refreshes our house! I’m also glad that we can support these workers during this difficult time.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…I wonder how these next few months will look. I do think that post-COVID will be a very different place…but I am hopeful that people will be able to get back to work soon and we can all recover physically and mentally.
What would you share with me over coffee?
