I hope you’ve been doing well! It feels like it’s been so long since we caught up!

Since it’s the last Friday of the month, I’m joining Marcia for Runfessions! This is always a fun way to share some of the things that have been on my mind lately when it comes to running and fitness.

The last Friday of the month means it's time for Runfessions, and this month, I'm talking about self-doubt as a runner. Time for some real talk!

Runfessions for March

Half Marathon training is going great!

I have to say that I’m really enjoying this cycle of half marathon training! It has been a lot of hard work, but I’m proud that I’ve been able to rise to the occasion. I’m back to doing a proper warmup and a very thorough post-run routine, including foam rolling! Now, I must runfess that the next couple of weeks on the plan are intimidating to me. Since I run 3 days a week vs. 4, my “short” runs during the week are building up to 5 miles each. With all said and done, it’s taking well over an hour to get these runs done. So far I’ve been managing my time well but I’m getting a little nervous!

I’m growing doubtful about the Delaware Half Marathon’s status

While the race is scheduled to take place in-person on April 25, we recently received an update that the race was DENIED permits from the city of Wilmington. We’ve been told that we’ll know for sure by April 1, and then they will most likely postpone the in-person race to May or June. I have to runfess that I’m a little bit annoyed about this. If the city has said no, why not just pull the plug now instead of dragging it out? Time to figure out Plan B…

I’m starting to crave in-person races

If Delaware is canceled/postponed, there’s no way that I’m running it virtually. I just can’t lol. I truly miss the atmosphere of a live race and while I don’t want to be surrounded by 40,000 runners anytime soon, I’d really like to find some smaller, local gems to support this spring. The Half Sauer Half Kraut Half Marathon is taking place in June, and the Dirty German 25K is in May…so that could be a fun alternative. I just received an email survey about the Philly 10K in late August, and while I used to balk at its price, I runfess that I’d probably pay extra to get to run through a race through the city again! So we’ll see…do you have any live races coming up?

Bring on spring running weather!

I think most people who have read the blog for a while know that I LOVE winter running. It’s my favorite…weird, I know, lol! But I have to runfess that after the crazy, cold winter we’ve had this. pastyear, I am looking forward to spring sticking around and providing some milder weather! I’m even looking forward to the blooming of trees (which usually gives me a headache)…I’d rather that challenge than hopping over ice, dodging mud, and stepping in slush like this past winter. 50 degrees is my absolutely sweet spot, so I’m so looking forward to that consistency, assuming Mother Nature cooperates!

What runfessions would you share?
