April Coffee Chat!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that last weekend I participated in the Bibrave Pro’s annual summit and I had a great time! It’s been great being part of the community for over 5 years. We had lots of informative sessions, fun activities, and the opportunity to “network” for 3-minute video chats. I’m now inspired to take things up a notch on social media, even considering dabbling in creating video!
If we were having coffee, I would ask you…if you’ve been vaccinated yet, assuming you’re okay with sharing that info? I have to say that I’m starting to get jealous because there has been no movement in our household! My employer sent me a note that I qualify for 1C. I think the city is doing 1A and 1B right now, but I keep hearing people are getting their shots, seemingly sooner than they should. I’m of course grateful to not be in a high-risk group, but I’m tempted to start checking pharmacies to get one of their leftover shots!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that we’ve decided to get solar panels on our house! I’m really excited about it and hope that the process goes smoothly! With Bret and I both working from home, the electricity bill has been much higher than pre-pandemic, and I’m glad that we’ll able to save money and help the planet. Do you know what’s crazy? We wouldn’t have been able to do this if the neighbor’s tree didn’t fall (and land on our house) last summer!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…that we’re also looking to go electric for our next car! We sold Bret’s Ford Fiesta a few months ago and now we just have my Honda Fit. Electric vehicles are really taking off, and there are some really cool-looking cars on the market with more to come! We want to get something more like an SUV so that we have enough space for the 3 of us. I think we’ll probably wait until late this year or early next year to take the plunge.
If we were having coffee, I would ask you…if you are making any summer travel plans? I really want to go to the beach for a week, lol. I have a lot of vacation time that I was able to carry over from last year and I want to use it! I’m just nervous that everywhere will be packed…
What would you share with me over coffee?
I share your frustrations with the vaccine thing. Like you, though, I’m also grateful to not be in a high-risk category (I was told I’m too young and too healthy LOL). I know others need the vaccine more than I do, but it is frustrating to see a lot of others
“cutting the line” who shouldn’t be. Monday, Iowa opens up to “everyone,” so I know my time will come. Good luck with the solar panels! That will be a nice renovation!
I’m glad to know I’m not the only one feeling this way. My job was able to coordinate vaccines for people who wanted/needed it so I just got an appointment! But I’m frustrated because my husband still has to wait, and certain clinics are still only accepting 1B’s…we’ll see how it all shakes out.
I am now fully vaccinated. Virginia is doing a great job. It feels good but weird. Interested to hear how your solar panels go! Not sure we are ready to do it though. yes just made some summer travel plans! thanks for joining for coffee
Yay to being fully vaccinated, I’m glad it’s going well in VA! Philly is trying to keep up. It’ll be exciting once the panels get installed, but I think it’ll take several months to get to that point! I hope you have some great summer trips!

Nice on the BibRavePro event. I like “speed dating” networking activities. A few minutes let’s you meet someone without getting to that awkward silence point.
It really has been like the Hunger Games with the vaccine! Thankfully I was JUST able to get an appointment through my employer, such a relief! The speed dating also helps avoid overthinking, at least it does for me, lol!
I’m sorry I missed the BRP Summit – everyone’s posts from the weekend made it look like a lot of fun!
The whole vaccine situation here is a cluster…but like you said, I’m grateful to not be in a high-risk category.
I’ll be interested to hear how the electric car shopping goes! I don’t know anyone who owns one yet.
I am dying to get away, but with the whole vax situation up in the air, it’s hard to make plans. The beach sounds so good right about now!
They did such a great job with the summit. Hopefully you’ll get to make it next time! I think they’re going to find more ways for us to interact virtually through the year.
I’m so excited about EV’s – we’re actually going to get to test drive one this weekend!
