When you’re a runner, sometimes you can get so consumed with the training involved, that you forget a very key component in the process: nutrition!
I’ve been running for over 10 years now and I have to admit that I never really focused on post-run recovery from a fueling perspective. So I was really excited when Naked Nutrition reached out to me to try their products! I’ve always heard about protein shakes for workout recovery, but never gave it a serious look. Check out my review of Naked Nutrition’s Grass-Fed Whey Protein Powder (in chocolate!), and find a delicious smoothie for your post-run recovery!

Check out the perfect smoothie for running recovery featuring Naked Nutrition's Grass-Fed Whey Protein Powder! #nakednutrition #proteinshake #proteinsmoothie Click To TweetNaked Nutrition is an awesome brand that sells a variety of protein powders, vegan protein powders, sports nutrition and supplements, and protein bars. I was sent a huge container of their chocolate protein powder made with grass-fed whey and flavored with organic coconut sugar and organic cacao. What makes Naked Nutrition “naked”? They carefully source their ingredients for the products, and use no artificial sweeteners. Check out this video that shares more information!
The team at Naked Nutrition sent me a smoothie recipe to try for post-run recovery and I’m happy to share it with you! I made my smoothie with my Nutribullet but I’m sure that any blender would work just fine! This recipe made 2 servings!
I have to say that this smoothie was absolutely delicious and really took me by surprise! The flavors worked so well together, and I guzzled it down after my 9-mile run last weekend, saving the rest for after my 4-mile run a few days later! I honestly do feel that it made a difference the next day, and it felt good to know that I was drinking something with healthy ingredients.
I honestly had my doubts about protein powder, since I’ve had some in the past that tasted awful LOL, but thanks to Naked Nutrition I’m a believer! I’ve made the post-run smoothie a few times now and it’s still a hit! I’m also looking at other ways to use the protein powder, – for example, mixing it into some protein balls for a healthy snack to have on-hand or at work, or baking it into muffins for breakfast!
Naked Whey Protein powder is $89.99 for a 5-pound container available in plain, chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla, with a shelf-life of 2 years, so I think I’ll be enjoying it for a good while! I’m glad I finally found something that sticks!
