October Goal Recap

  • Finish the Philadelphia Trail Half Marathon with a smile. Grade: A. I have yet to write a full recap of my first pure trail race, but it was one of a kind and I was so glad to finish it with a smile (and high-five)! The best part was seeing little E as I approached the finish line, she had the biggest smile and wanted to run after me, haha! Overall, I was really happy with my performance though I honestly didn’t know what to expect!
  • Incorporate PT exercises into a daily routine. Grade: C+. I definitely did not do exercises every single day, but I did do my best to make my PT exercises a habit and worked hard on the days that I did do them. I think that this grade makes it more clear why my knee issues have been flaring up again. It’s so easy to stop doing the exercises…too easy. But every little bit helps and I will focus on what I did do well, rather than wishing I did more.
  • Enjoy my vacation days. Grade: A. I did it! As I mentioned last month, it is easy for me to get caught up in my to-do lists and forget that I’m supposed to be relaxing, but I was actually very successful with my vacation days. One the first one I took, I was able to go to the mall and buy running shoes and some new fitness tights (since most of mine have holes in the thighs). On my last 2 vacation days I was able to organize baby clothes, work on planning, go to Lowes and Target, and on Friday night, enjoy our anniversary dinner, which was delicious! I needed the time off, and I still have a few more unscheduled days to use up before the end of the year!

November Wellness Goals

  • Execute my training plan for the Philadelphia Half Marathon. Coach Laura has given me the tools to have a successful race. And yet, I honestly don’t know what to expect. I’m in a very different place now than I was in 2012 when I last ran this race. It’s going to be really interesting to see how it goes, but I will follow my plan and let the chips fall where they may!
  • Embrace my new nutrition plan. I recently signed up to work with a new dieitian and we’ll be meeting later this month. My prevous dieititan is changing roles at her company, and after 8 years of working together, now seems like a great time for a fresh start with someone new. I’m not sure what I will have in store, but I’m looking forward to a new perspective and making improvements in my eating habits!
  • Go to bed by 10 pm each night. It’s time to get back at this, especially with daylight savings coming back (ugh). Having a FitBit is really helpful because it has shown me how little sleep I’ve been getting. And with E having trouble going to bed recently, my bedtime keeps creeping later and later. But sleep is important for health and I can tell that I need more Z’s!

What are your wellness goals for this month? How did things go in October?
