A good, quality pair of running shoes is one of the most important things you need as a runner at any experience level. Over the years, I have run in so many different brands of shoes with varying success, but recently I’ve been a big fan of Brooks, especially their Ghost brand of neutral, cushioned running shoes. I was so excited to get the opportunity to review their newest model, the Ghost 14, and I’m happy to share my review!

Latest blog post: Brooks Ghost 14 Review @brooksrunning #bibchat #brooksghost14br Click To TweetI’ve been a fan of Brooks Ghost for a very long time! I looked at my running shoe records and realized that I used to wear the Ghost 5 way back in 2013, and more recently I’ve worn the 11 and 12 models. This is a shoe that has never let me down…I can see why I keep coming back to it!
The Ghost 14 is an updated version of the popular Brooks model that has some really great features for those who run neutral (vs. needing more support for their arches). It’s cushioned but not too squishy (a personal pet peeve). They’re great for road running and training for mid to long distances.
Here are some more technical details:
I also was pleased to learn that the Brooks Ghost 14 is the first carbon-neutral shoe! We need more running shoe brands (and companies in general) working towards creating products that do less harm to the environment, so using more recycled materials and purchasing carbon offsets are great steps.
I have been really enjoying wearing the Ghost 14’s. It doesn’t hurt that they came in this awesome fuschia color! I have worn them outdoors on city sidewalks and trails (in the brutal summer heat and humidity), plus indoors on the treadmill in the office gym. My mileage has ranged from a 2-mile to a 7-mile distance. The shoes have handled all of my distances and surfaces well.
The Ghosts are easy to “break in” right away and I can definitely feel that the transitions are smoother than I’ve felt in other shoes. That was very clear when running on the treadmill – I really felt like I was gliding across the belt, super helpful when I was doing a 20 minute HIIT workout!
Bottom line: if you’re in the market for some solid running shoes with a neutral gait and just a touch of cushion, the Brooks Ghost 14 might be right for you! I highly recommend checking them out!
Have you tried Brooks Ghost 14 or earlier models? Are you team more cushion or less cushion?
