RnR Philly Half Week 8 Recap: Back to 3 Days a Week

By Janelle @ Run With No Regrets | training

Happy Labor Day!  I hope you’re all having a wonderful time!  I’m a little sad because this is the last day of freedom before heading back to work, and back to reality.  Yesterday I went to a really nice barbecue and I’ve got plenty of leftovers!  It’s been great to catch up on some much-needed rest as well!

Happy Birthday, Jennifer!

This past weekend was my sister’s birthday!  So I went down to Maryland to get  in some quality sibling time.  On Friday night we hung out, Saturday we went to the park for some walking and running, and on Saturday night we had dinner and drinks at 3 different restaurants.  We also spent a good amount of time in Panera working (her) and studying (me).  It was fun!  We also watched a lot of The Simpsons and played video games on the Wii.  It’s a sister thang, you know how it is!

Preparing for Half Marathon Training

By Janelle @ Run With No Regrets | training

I hope you had a wonderful Fourth of July Weekend!  I thought I would share how I’m getting ready to begin Half Marathon training for the Rock & Roll Philly race, which officially starts on Tuesday!

Last Thursday, Coach Kristy and I had another phone conversation discussing the first four weeks of my training plan.  Due to my lack of consistency, she’s starting me off with running 3 days a week, and then I’ll progress to 4 days a week: Tuesdays, Wednesday, Saturdays and Sundays. I’m only going to get about 10 weeks to train, but if she really believes I can run 2:05 to 2:10, I’ll make the most if it!

Happy National Running Day! Let’s Catch Up!

By Janelle @ Run With No Regrets | training

Hello!  Yes, I am still alive in case you were concerned!  It’s been about a week and a half since I’ve been able to post, and I’ve really missed it and reading comments from you!  So let’s catch up with what’s been going on!

National Running Day

First off, how weird is it that it’s already June??  Today marks National Running Day, and while I am a bit skeptical that it’s a strategic way to stimulate the running economy toward the end of spring racing season (sorry, but have you seen all the coupons and promotions today?!), it’s a great time to reflect on what this running thing is all about.

New This Week: I’m Running a 5K!

By Janelle @ Run With No Regrets | running

Well it’s official…I’m running my first race of 2014:  The Haddonfield Adrenaline 5K on March 15!  One of my good friends invited Bret and I to sign up.  Not only do you get a medal (which is rare for a 5K), but there is an awesome post party with lots of beers, right on time for St. Patty’s Day.  Our team name is “I.D.T.I.R”:  I Drink, Therefore I Run.  I’m excited!

Obviously I’m not going to be breaking any records. The last time I ran a 5K was the Heroes Run 5K back in September and I finished beyond 30 minutes.  I’m running with guys, so I’m not sure how I’m going to pace myself.  I should probably just use this race, which is in less than a week(!) to further assess my progress!
